Wedding photography at The Lynnhurst Hotel with Laura and Scott.

A question I often get asked, what is your favourite wedding venue. well the Lynnhurst Hotel is one of my top favourites, not just because it is local to me but because of what it has to offer as a venue. with it’s stunning building from the front to it’s lovely gardens at the rear, giving you a wide selection of options for your wedding photos.

When arriving to the venue for the first time you will be wondering where is this place, as you drive through an area of housing, but once you arrive you will be pleasantly surprised and felt very welcome buy the friendly staff.

Laura and Scott’s wedding was in February 2016, luckily we had good weather being a winter wedding. being a fun photographer the couple were up for some fun shots, with Scott scaling the kids climbing frame for a shot. All in all it was a great day and as always I feel privileged to be part of their day.

Sarahjane and Jamie’s wedding at Dalmeny Park Hotel

Back in 2013 I was contacted by this lovely couple that were arranging their wedding for April 2014 at the Dalmeny Park hotel in Barrhead Glasgow. Sarah Jane was very bubbly and full of beans. She explained to me that she worked in a company called rainbow room, which was a hair dressers salon, which had shops all over Glasgow. The BBC were doing a documentary called Do or Die hair academy, which Sarah Jane was one of the top stylist over looking the young students embarking in a carrier in hairdressing. As the program progressed the producers decided to follow Sarah Jane on her wedding day.

I am not sure who was more excited me or her, Tv! going to be on Tv. When I walked into the hotel room were the girls were getting ready there was about four camera men, the bide, bridesmaids and makeup artist Laura Dawson. It was a bit manic, but exciting at the same time. I was doing my best to get a wee squeeze in front of the camera. The funny thing was, I was at the venue the day before at another wedding and to witness the wedding coordinator run about in a panic, shouting at the staff, you better do this tomorrow, you better not do that tomorrow. The BBC will be here tomorrow.

On the day Sarah Jane’s personality was on overdrive, laughing and joking at every possible moment, which made my job a lot easier. So I hope you enjoy looking at my work and have a laugh at some of the photos, one in particular.

Back in 2014 I was contacted by Jenna & Graeme, they originally come from Glasgow but moved to Australia many years ago. They were planning to come back home to celebrate their big day at Citation in Glasgow with family and friends. Some times when you meet a couple you just get an instant click with them and you know they are going to be a great couple to work with. On the day Jenna was such a natural at being photographed. Loch Lomond offer some great wedding venue Lodge on the Loch being one of the most popular. If you are luck with the weather you can end up with some stunning shots. Here is a small selection of the work I have done, may I add, some of these shots were done at a moments notice. If we had waited for the bride to to talk to the ant about something, we might have missed the light and not got the shot. So If your photographer says to “lets go now” then there is a reason for their haste. So enjoy looking at some of my work.

I was at Dunkeld House hotel on the 1^st May for the wedding of Gillian and Craig. I was really looking forward to this wedding because I had never photographed a wedding at this venue before. It was a gorgeous morning and Gillian and Craig were hoping to get married outside. The weather was changing a bit and the staff were a bit unsure wither to set up the chairs incase the rain came on. The wedding ceremony was at 2pm, by 1.30pm the staff had managed to set up all the chairs successfully just the way the bride wanted it. I think if they had set up inside the hotel and the sun had came out the bride would have been a bit disappointed.

During the ceremony a big gust of wind came up which caused a bit of a reaction with ever body that made all the girls hold on to their hats, but it only lasted a couple of seconds.

But unknown to everybody that gust had blown the tablecloth up and over the table, which spilled a glass of water over the marriage certificate. When it came for the minister to get the certificate and realised what had happened and the guests sighed and I think the minister panicked a wee bit. All he said was wee can deal with that later, but as I stood behind him looking at the sodden wet certificate in the envelope, I though that I have to do something here. So I got a hold of the envelope and tried to get the marriage certificate out without damaging it while everybody was looking over with anticipation. I tried to dry it off by wafting it about and ended up looking like a Morris dancer.

The minister turned to me and said I think wee will have to get it dried off in a cam voice, trying not to panic the bride and groom. I whispered to him that I would go to the toilets and attempt to dry it under the hand dryer. So I put my cameras down and ran to the toilets to dry it. I ran back as fast as I could, walked down the red carpet and held it up “ its dry” and everybody let out a cheer. That was my good deed done for the day and was welcomed with a firm handshake from the minister. You saved the day he said, well that was a first.

The rest of the day went well. Dunkeld House hotel is a lovely venue with the river Tay running alongside it. I managed to get some great shots which I hope the happy couple will be happy with.
